The Free Sound Project is free archive of sound effects. The sounds are all licensed under a Creative Commons Sampling+ license, which basically means you’re free to do whatever you want to with it, except for using it in advertising, so long as you provide attributition.
There are hundreds of sound samples, from nature sounds to electronic sounds to voices. You can have alarm clocks, ray-guns, church bells, and crowd noise.
It’s a great resource for pretty much anyone who needs sound effects.
