Parade of Awesomeness

The Story of Afganisu-tan (and Friends) is an anime version of Middle East history. Pictured above is Afganisu-tan, the character representing Afghanistan. Several other characters appear in the full comic, from Pakisu-tan (who has a younger sister far away) and Meriken (the richest girl in the neighborhood).
The stories consist of four panels of anime on the left with a historical note on the right. The series traces Afghanistan’s history from 1919 to present.
Honestly, I’d love to see more history presented this way, with the various countries represented as cute little Japanese cartoons. What could be more awesome?
