Spartanburg Creative Energy is a city program that promotes local art, dance, music, and other creative efforts in my home town of Spartanburg, SC. The city held the inaugural meeting of the 18-month program last Thursday at Beaumont Mill.
The program’s website lists lots of local events that people can attend, from poetry readings to plays to art displays. The program has a lot of potential for promoting Spartanburg’s current creative efforts and for spurring new works of art and science.
The city of Spartanburg has always been hidden in the shadow of the larger and more exciting Greenville, thirty miles to Spartanburg’s west. I hope that the Spartanburg Creative Energy program will make Spartanburg into an interesting, fun city with a personality of its very own.
