Today’s entry is the awesome DS Game Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. This RPG game is essentially 2-Player Bejewelled on steroids.
Like most RPG’s, you start out as a lowly level 1 character, and you have to battle hordes of enemies to improve your skills. In this game, however, you play Bejewelled to engage in combat. Match 3 or more skulls in a row to do damage to your opponent; match gold coins to get money; match purple stars to get experience points; and match red, blue, yellow, and green circles to gain mana to perform spells.
The spell system makes Puzzle Quest much more interesting than the standard Bejewelled game. Some spells do damage, drain your opponents mana, or add more mana to your own character. Others will have an effect on the board: For example, Charge! removes an entire line of gems, while Promotion will convert all of a selected spell into purple stars.
This is the one DS game I would recommend to anyone who wants a game to pass the time in a doctors waiting room or at the DMV. It’s easily my most-played DS game, so you know that I must think it’s pretty awesome.
