Parade of Awesomeness

Today’s participant in the Parade of Awesomeness is the most highly anticipated game video game ever made for the Wii, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl.
Brawl’s younger sibling, Super Smash Brothers: Melee, is easily the best game ever made for the Nintendo GameCube. The series is reknown for its near-infinite replay value—my brothers and I have played Melee regularly for over six years. So Brawl had a lot to live up to.
I am very pleased to say that, so far, it lives up to the hype. The game feels a little different from Melee, almost more like an arcade game than the previous incarnations, but it has all of the charm and fun that I had anticipated.
The characters are better balanced (for example, Link’s spinning attack is not quite as powerful, while Bowser’s attacks were given a bit of a boost), and the new characters are interesting and fun. I’m a little miffed that I have to unlock Snake and Sonic, the two new characters I was most looking forward to playing, but only a little.
In all, the Brawl expands on the success of its earlier siblings: it is every bit as fun, and it adds new features like online play, an expansive story mode, dozens of new stages to fight in, and more new characters and items to fight with. Super Smash Brothers: Brawl is the best game released for the Wii yet.
