Ask MetaFilter »
Next in the parade is one of the old standby’s, Ask Metafilter. Ask almost any question, from “Where can I get the January 1956 issue of Life Magazine?” to “How do I take photos of people without it seeming creepy?” to “My dog just died. What helped you get through this kind of situation?” and get an answer in a few minutes.
The community at Metafilter is genuinely intelligent and helpful, and the moderators are strict about removing unhelpful and snarky responses. The community costs $5 to enter, which keeps most of the spammers and 10-year-olds out.
The site always has plenty of interesting questions and answers, and it has been tremendous help to me in the past. And for that, I declare it Awesome.
